The Anglo-Belgian Society offers its members a networking platform, where like-minded people can meet and promote the friendship between Great Britain and Belgium on a personal level.

On a regular basis the members of the Society are invited to social and cultural activities organised by the Society for its members. These traditionally include the Belgian Ball, some museum visits and lectures, a yachting weekend, a day as Ascot and the annual dinner.

Membership of the Society also provides access to the broader network of Anglo-EU Societies in London, in particular to the annual concert organised at the Royal College of Music.

Members of the society enjoy a 15% discount in Boyds Brasserie, located at The Northumberland which is the Societies’ meeting point.

Membership is annual and starting on 1 January; people joining from November onwards have their membership extended till the end of the following year.

History of the Anglo-Belgian Society

The Anglo belgian Club in the 40's

The Anglo-Belgian Society evolved from the Anglo-Belgian Union (1918-1982) and the Cercle Royal Belge de Londres (1922-1982), which merged in 1982.

Her Majesty the Queen and His Majesty King Baudouin graciously extended their patronage to the merged Society, which continues to this day, his Majesty King Albert II having agreed to the patronage when he came to the throne in 1994.

In 2012, the Society took over the social, cultural and sporting activities of the Anglo-Belgian Club.

The objectives of the Society continue as before “to help maintain and develop on a personal level the friendship which has always existed between the British and Belgian peoples, to promote cultural and social relations between the two peoples and to commemorate the brotherhood in arms which arose in two World Wars”.
